Wabash High School Wrestlers Win 2018 Wabash County Championship

On Saturday, December 1st, the Wabash High School wrestling team secured the Wabash County team championship and invitational, going 5-0 as a team for the day.
Wabash Coach Jake O'Neill was proud of his team's early season accomplishment, "This was one of our first goals as a team.  They've worked so hard and bought into our mission to progressively get better as a team." Individual Wabash County champs included Jared Brooks at 106, RJ Steg at 113, Ethan Higgins at 120, Braden Brooks at 126, Jaxon Barnett at 132, Anthony Long at 138, Traydon Goodwin at 152 and Justin Samons at 220.
Coach O'Neill spoke on the resiliency of his young team, "We have had some ups and downs, but at 7-1 and a second consecutive Wabash County Championship, I have to remind myself that we are in a good place.  Our kids need to stay hungry and keep looking to get better each time they step on the mat.  If they do that, then this team has the opportunity to accomplish some things no other team has accomplished in the recent history of Wabash Apache Wrestling."
The Apaches earned the county championship by beating all Wabash County schools and earned the entire invitational win by securing team wins against Blackford and Southern Wells.  Wabash High School Wrestlers moved to 7-1 on the year.  The team will be back in action Saturday, December 8th for a invitational at Western.
